Physician Assisted Suicide: How to Defeat
Presenter: Kathleen Gallagher,
Director of Pro-life Activities for the NY State Catholic Conference will speak on PAS and provide strategies to defeat PAS as she has done in NY.
Biography – Kathleen M. Gallagher serves as the Director of Pro-Life Activities for the New York State Catholic Conference. Based in Albany, Mrs. Gallagher represents the state’s Roman Catholic Bishops in presenting the Church’s life-related policy positions to legislators, the media and other external groups statewide.
Mrs. Gallagher has been with the Catholic Conference for more than 36 years.
Mrs. Gallagher was a recipient of the Diocesan Pro-Vita Award from the Diocese of Rockville Centre in 1989 and the Diocese of Brooklyn/Queens in 1992. She received the 2008 Bishop Edwin Broderick Award from the Diocese of Albany. Her articles have been published in state and national magazines, religious and secular newspapers.
She is proud of numerous policy accomplishments in a state that is
hostile to the pro-life message, including:
– The enactment of a ban on surrogate motherhood for profit.
– The enactment of the Prenatal Care Assistance Program.
– The continuation of the state-funded Maternity & Early Childhood Foundation, providing alternatives to abortion.
– The building of the NY Alliance vs. Assisted Suicide, and their continued success in maintaining NY’s ban on assisted suicide.
A summa cum laude graduate of the New York Institute of Technology,
Mrs. Gallagher is a Long Island native, a wife and the mother of
two sons. In her spare time (ha!) she enjoys reading and oil painting.
